Product Description

M-FIX2601 is a single-component, polymer-modified, cement-based adhesive mortar developed for bonding EPS, XPS and mineral wool insulation boards to concrete, brick, AAC and other mineral-based substrates.

Application Areas

Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications in residential, commercial, healthcare, and similar buildings. Can be applied to fair-faced concrete, AAC, brick, and other mineral-based substrates. Suitable for horizontal (floor), vertical (wall), and overhead (ceiling) applications. Designed for bonding EPS, XPS, and mineral wool insulation boards.

Features and Advantages

  • Easy to prepare and apply.
  • Offers high adhesion strength.
  • Resistant to adverse weather conditions and freeze–thaw cycles.
  • Vapour permeable, allowing the substrate to breathe.
  • Non-combustible.

Application Instructions

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The substrate must be clean, sound, and level. Dust, oil, dirt, rust, form-release agents, and any other contaminants that may reduce adhesion must be completely removed. Loose particles should be removed, and voids, cavities, and cracks should be repaired with a suitable repair mortar before application.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Pour 6.25 – 6.50 L of clean water into a clean mixing container and gradually add 25 kg of the product. Mix with a low-speed mixer until a homogeneous, lump-free consistency is obtained. Allow the mortar to rest for 5 minutes, then remix for 30 seconds before application. The prepared mortar should be used within 30 – 60 minutes.

  3. 3

    Application

Apply the prepared mortar to the back of the insulation board using a notched steel trowel. Spot bonding may also be used where required. The application thickness should be 3–8 mm. Position the insulation boards by pressing them firmly onto the substrate. For improved mechanical stability, secure the system with suitable mechanical anchors. Allow the adhesive to cure for 24–48 hours before applying the render.

Important Notes

  • The application and ambient temperature should be between +5 °C and +35 °C.
  • During and after application, protect the surface from direct sunlight, strong winds, rain, and frost.
  • Do not add water, cement, or any other additives to the prepared mortar.
  • Do not use mortar that has exceeded its pot life or has started to set.
  • Prepare only the amount of mortar that can be used within its pot life.
  • Prime gypsum-based and highly absorbent substrates with a suitable primer before application.
  • Mechanical anchoring and render application should only be carried out after the adhesive has developed sufficient strength.

Storage and Shelf Life

Store in the original, unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture, frost, and direct sunlight. When stored under appropriate conditions, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Health and Safety

This product is cement-based and may cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Appropriate personal protective equipment (protective clothing, protective gloves, safety goggles, and a dust mask) should be worn during application. The use of a protective skin cream before starting work is recommended. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical attention without delay.
